  4. Hi there! Great to see you’ve downloaded yet _ANOTHER_ one of 
  5. Kitty - Kat Software’s programs, Mr. Timer v2.2.

  7. Please, please... read through **ALL** the documentation
  8. before using the software. There are mostly probably some
  9. features that you’ll never see, as well as things you won’t 
  10. understand, unless you read this. Thanks!

  15. About Version 2.2 Docs...
  16. -------------------------

  18. “So, what’s so special about these docs?” you might ask. Once
  19. again, the Mr. Timer documentation appears in Setext form.
  20. Setext is a form of text that uses regular ASCII characters
  21. and together with a view, makes special styles using the text.
  22. If you’re view this as Setext, you see the word **COOL** just
  23. now boldened, while users with a regular text reader see it
  24. as two starts, “COOL” and then another two stars.
  25.  
  26. To read these docs in the special setext form, open it up
  27. using Akif Eyler’s Easy View. Be sure, once you’ve opened it,
  28. to select “Use Styles”.

  34. About Mr. Timer v2.2...
  35. -----------------------

  37. Mr. Timer v2.2 includes a variety of new features, but still
  38. not quite enough to make it up and over to version 3.0. I got
  39. numerous suggestions from many people these past couple of days
  40. about new features to add to Mr. Timer v2.2. Since so many were
  41. already being planned to be added, I made an extreme effort to
  42. include them all. I did include many, but not every one!

  47. Mr. Timer is just about what its name implies: a timer! But not
  48. you’re ordinary timer! It’s both a stopwatch, a counting down
  49. timer, a system clock reader of date and time, a day of the week
  50. teller, not to mention nice features like the ability to choose
  51. the cursor you’d like to have over a selection of hour glasses
  52. (  :)  ) as well as text styling!

  55. Freeware/Shareware... what?
  56. ---------------------------

  58. Once again, Mr. Timer remains to be a great freeware piece of
  59. software. As usual, I’m going to quickly run down some terms...
  60.  
  61. PUBLIC DOMAIN -- (NOT Mr. Timer v2.2) public may disect it,
  62.                  take code, package it up, and ship it out
  63.                  with their name on it without caring a bit
  64.                  about the author.
  65.                  
  66. FREEWARE -- (Mr. Timer v2.2 is this) You may use it and 
  67.              distribute it to boards, your friends and family
  68.              without fee. All credit to the program must be
  69.              given to the author, and the package must be
  70.              distributed exactly the way it was found.
  71.              
  72. SHAREWARE -- (NOT Mr. Timer v2.2) You can try it out for a
  73.              certain number of days, then if you wish to
  74.              continue using it, you must pay a certian fee
  75.              to the author.

  77. Why is Mr. Timer v2.2 freeware? Because I know right now that
  78. if Mr. Timer was otherwise, (shareware, I mean) I’d be lucky
  79. to get one registration.

  81. What I want out of the program... well, I always enjoy
  82. comments from people. I require you pay nothing, but I do
  83. enjoy reading and replying to mail. It always makes me feel
  84. great for someone to say, “Hey! Great job!”. And how long
  85. does it take you to do that? Not long.

  87. At the end I’ve included contact addresses. Please send some
  88. sort of a comment, even if you hated it. Also, bug reports
  89. are always nice to know, though I thouroughly test each
  90. program before shipping it out to the Macintosh community.

  161. _Notes About The Timer Menu_
  162.  
  163. ** Autoupdating ** is a feature on Mr. Timer. That’s when
  164. the screen updates itself to make the stopwatch time always
  165. correct. When you stop the timer, autoupdating remains on.
  166. The screen may “annoyingly” flicker. To turn it off, hold
  167. down the option key. To restart this, use the “Update On”
  168. menu item. Note that when you “Start” the timer, auto-
  169. updating will auto matically re-enable itself.

  175. One Minute        <-- Counts down 60 seconds
  176. Two Minutes       <-- Counts down 120 seconds

  179. Thirty Minutes    <-- Counts down 1800 seconds

  185. _Notes about the Countdown Menu_
  186.  
  187. ** Halt Countdown ** can be a hard to understand feature.
  188. Here’s what it does. You’re in a countdown, and you want
  189. to stop it. You select “Halt Countdown” from the menu. The
  190. time suddently changes to six seconds left. It counts those
  191. down, then “finishes”... right after it finishes, the old
  192. countdown that you are trying to cancel will count down
  193. a max of 6 more seconds, after which it will finally end.

  195. What that means is that at a max of 12 seconds after you
  196. select “Halt Countdown” the countdown will totally cease.

  198.  Cursor Menu
  199. ------------

  201. This menu allows you to select what cursor you want to
  202. use while in Mr. Timer. The default is arrow, except when
  203. in countdown mode, where it is a rotating hour glass.

  205.  Text Menu

  208. This menu lets you style the text in the program box the
  209. way that you like it. This includes point size, and the
  210. basic “styles”.

  215. Day of Week           <--- Prints the day of the week
  216. Current System Time   <--- Prints the current system time
  217. Current System Date   <--- Prints the current system date
  218. Show All Three        <--- Shows all three of the above

  226. original archive with the Mr. Timer v2.2 application, and
  227. this documentation document, “Mr. Timer v2.2 Docs” are
  228. together, and all credit is given to the author, Charles
  229. DeLauder.

  231. This may be included on club Macintosh User Group CD’s, as
  232. long as the author is notified of such a thing first.
